Tom’s background in the areas of broadband deployments and connections in the industry have proven invaluable as we have evaluated our role in bringing broadband to the communities we serve.

Mr. Reid worked with our organization. in developing and implementing a Southern Perry County Technology Access Plan. Tom and his staff stood out for various reasons which I attribute to his ability to listen, problem solve and organize resources to be of assistance to our small organization. His technical knowledge, attentiveness, follow through and respectful interactions with a diverse group of stakeholders created a constructive and accomplishment-oriented atmosphere for all involved.

The Staff is forward thinking, responsive and trustworthy. As a project manager, Reid Consulting Group was professional, organized, thorough and ultimately the key to the region gaining access to grant funding that will help fill the broadband coverage gap in 34 rural Ohio counties

I found Tom to have the expertise, the intellectual grasp, the aggressiveness and the drive that I witnessed among Georgia Tech’s top IT staff. As I got to know him better, these perceptions were repeatedly reinforced. Time and time again, Tom was appointed to lead new initiatives because he could be counted on to bring projects in on time and within budget. He brought creativity and insight to planning.

Able to communicate complex projects to any audience

I worked with Tom Reid and Reid Consulting Group on the Connecting Appalachia middle-mile broadband project which resulted in a $66 million investment from the US Dept of Commerce, NTIA and $28 million from Horizon to develop a state-of-the-art middle mile fiber optic network in 34 counties of Ohio.

Through my experience, I have found them to be very inclusive of multiple parties on decisions and an ability to get those multiple parties working with one another for the betterment of all involved. They are also able to present information about a highly technical and complex subject such as broadband so that a novice could understand it.

Enterprising and entrepreneurial

Tom is enterprising, he is entrepreneurial, and he is visionary with regard to technology and how it can serve both the communication and the teaching-learning needs on a campus. I will be forever grateful for his leadership during my decade-long tenure as President of Ohio University.
